Field Report - April 20, 2010
RECENT ACTIVATION

3rd Battalion/2nd Brigade Provides Search Team for Missing Franklin County Resident. Account as Follows:

At approximately 2000 hrs on 20 April, I was informed via e-mail of a missing person in Franklin County near St. Clair, Mo.

I contacted the Franklin County Sheriff's Office to verify and ask if our assistance would be needed. They said positively and sent me a fax of the bulletin.

A this time I activated the 3rd/2nd unit by contacting it's members by telephone. I instructed the members participating to meet at designated areas and times.

On Wednesday, 21 April, at approximately 0800, Members of our unit proceeded to the Elk's Lodge in St. Clair, Mo, where we met up with some perspective members and several other volunteers.

At 0900 hrs the St. Clair Fire Dept. was supervising this location and put all of us on two school busses and we were taken to the Command Post where evryone signed in, was briefed by the Sheriff and given assignments. At this time we were taken to the search starting point. A search formation was formed by deputies and the search began. The terrain was heavily wooded, brushy and hilly.

Two groups then searched for approximately five hours ending at the lost person's home. We were given refreshments then shuttled back to the Command Post.
At approximately 1700 hrs we were signed out and taken back to the Elk's Lodge to our vehicle for departure.

During the day, some members met Sheriff Gary Toelke. He thanked us for coming out and invited us to his office for a "meet and greet".
Even though Mrs. Unger was not found, I feel the mission put to the 3/2 today was successful. The men that participated were called up and at a moments notice, were activated and with out delay, completed the assignment given them, in a professional manner.

GOOD JOB MEN !
