AFTER ACTION REPORT 2/11/17
1st Battalion 3rd Brigade Missouri Militia
32901 Pink Hill Road Grain Valley, MO

FROM: PFC Milhon

SUBJECT: After Action Report

PFC Milhon
Deployed Location: 32901 Pink Hill Road Grain Valley, MO

CO: COL Sumpter
Duration: 0800 - 1500
Purpose: Learn basics of establishing an OP/LP, familiarization with report formats, and use of field phones

We began with an intelligence briefing followed by the swearing in of three new members. CPL McVey then began with the basics of setting up an OP/LP and various report types that will be relayed back to FOB.

Reports that were covered included SITREP and SALUTE reports. A template was provided for SITREP reports as well as a brief discussion on their use. The SALUTE report was covered in greater detail as it was the focus of the training lane latter in the day.

As the SALUTE report was detailed, communications protocols were also reviewed. The techniques discussed were aimed at instructing attendees on how to communicate efficiently and without excess traffic on comms to help reduce confusion and response times.

Attendees were then taken through a brief familiarization exercise with the TA-312 and TA-1PT field phones.

A brief Q&A session was followed by a break for lunch.

After lunch, CPL McVey described the training lane. Attendees had the opportunity to set up a mock OP and send a dictated SALUTE report to FOB. The report was received by attendees as well. Each participant both sent and received the report. A go/no-go evaluation was made and any corrective action as discussed.

Following the lane a hotwash was performed and key concepts reviewed.
