On Saturday 3/11/17 elements of the Missouri Militia and volunteers from KCAM executed a joint operation of disaster relief. The group (about a platoon) rallied at Area 51 at approximately 0800 hrs. Information was collected from each of the volunteers about the equipment they brought to get an understanding of the capability of the platoon. The platoon fell in and organized into three squads under the direction of CPL McVey. We then receive the safety briefing from COL Sumpter followed by light PT and warm up lead by PFC Johnson. CPT Felix then gave the OPORD. The platoon fell out and conducted equipment familiarization and function checks. At approximately 0915 hrs. the platoon mounted up and departed with one squad deploying to a Bates City AO and the remaining section deploying to the Odessa AO. Each squad assembled again at their respective AO’s, received detailed briefings and began working as squads. At approximately 1230hrs the platoon assembled for lunch. Following lunch the entire platoon concentrated its efforts in the Odessa AO until approximately 1530 hrs. when work was completed for the day.
