After Action Report – 1st Bn / 3rd Bde – Training 14 April 2018
This is an AAR for training held on April 14, 2018.
Instructors; Cpl McVey and Spc Wick
The training focused on proficiency with the carbine. About 30 individuals were present about 6 being guests and the rest members of the militia. Training on the field began with a brief stretch followed by an overview of manual of arms. Followed by inspection of arms. We then all went over general gun safety and how to report an incident in the case of emergency. We started on paper, to test our consistency with our rifles at 7 yards. This illustrated our ability at making adjustments in regards to the offset in our sight for the rest of the days shooting. We ran drills shooting at steel from 25, 50 and 75 yrds. Taking commands at each distance to either move right, left, forward, or rear to engage target. Muzzle discipline and safety manipulation was enforced. The day ended by drills that had us moving while shooting and shooting from our "weak" side. Everyone's weaknesses were exposed, and we all came away with different skills to practice and new areas to improve. Another excellent day of training with the 1st / 3rd.
